Preschool

Four year old preschool is a planned education program for children in the year/s before school. Nillumbik Shire Council operates a centralised enrolment register for the Shire's preschools. You may register your child for four year old preschool from the first business day of March, two years prior to when they are eligible to attend. Children are eligible to attend preschool if they have turned four by the end of April that year.

You are encouraged to visit preschools to discuss programs and the education of your child. Please telephone and make an appointment with the director. Go to our community directory to find a list of the preschools within Nillumbik. Preschool Registration Forms are available from Council offices, preschools, maternal and child health centres or download from the link at the bottom of this page.

For more information about preschool and central enrolment process go to the frequently asked questions page from the link below. To arrange an enrolment, contact Preschool Central Enrolments on 9433 3161.

Online registration and payments
Online registration and payment of preschool registrations will soon be available through our website. We will provide updated information about when this will happen as it becomes available. At the moment we are in the testing phase and hope to have the system up and running in the very near future.

Registration process changes
There have been recent changes to the registration process for four year old preschool. Registrations now open on the first business day in March each year, two years before your child is eligible to attend preschool. All registrations received in the first week of March will be processed with a date of 1 March and registrations received after this week will be processed with the date they are received. To maximise your chances of getting a position at your first preference preschool it is important to register within that first week of March.
