Libraries

The Yarra Plenty Regional Library Service is supported by Nillumbik Shire Council, Banyule City Council and Whittlesea City Council. There are eight branch libraries located at Greensborough, Eltham, Ivanhoe, Lalor, Mill Park, Rosanna, Thomastown and Watsonia and two mobile libraries that operate within eight suburbs in Nillumbik alone. For details of the branch and mobile libraries within Nillumbik go to our community directory.

The library service provides access to information, programs and resources to library members. Membership is free and open to everyone. You can join at any of the branch locations, at a mobile library or online at the Yarra Plenty Regional Library website.

The library collection included books, magazines, newspapers, large print books, audio books, videos, CDs, DVDs, multimedia kits, cassettes, books and kits for learning English and other languages, ebooks, ejournals, databases, reference collections and history collections. There is also access to a number of resources through the online library.

Home Library Service
The Home Library Service is available to residents of Banyule, Nillumbik and Whittlesea who cannot visit the library due to illness, frailty and/or disability. This is a free monthly service where items are selected and delivered to the home by volunteers. A library service to Retirement Villages, Nursing Homes and Institutions is also provided via the library outreach vehicle.

For more information or to volunteer contact Carolyn on 9401 0725.
