Belonging, Being & Becoming Project - Developing a shared vision for the early years
The Belonging, Being & Becoming Project is a grass root study of the views, perspective and ideas of Nillumbik children and families. This project will become the first phase of an annual project that will embed the shared vision for children and families in Nillumbik contained within the Municipal Early Years Plan and will align with and build upon the Family Friendly Places and Spaces Project.
Between June and October 2011, Council are seeking to engage Nillumbik children from birth to eight years and their families in developing an understanding of what it means to Belong and Be in Nillumbik, and what they would like Nillumbik and themselves to Become. Activities will target specific age groups and gather a variety of responses through multimedia, the arts, anecdotal recording and storytelling.
The purpose of this project is to:
Develop a story of the perspectives and ideas of Nillumbik children and families in the neighbourhoods of Eltham, Diamond Creek and rural areas.
- Create an annual project that will encapsulate the views of children and families in Nillumbik.
- Introduce Belonging, Being and Becoming - The National Early Years Learning Framework to the Shire of Nillumbik.
- The information gathered will be used to inform Council when developing future municipal plans.
- The stories will be displayed during the 2011 Children's Week celebrations in October.
