A mobile phone application is now available to help parents choose healthy foods for their children. The application tracks the fat, sugar and salt content in food. You enter the information from the nutritional label and the application will produce a red light for foods high in fat, sugar and salt content and a green light for foods low in these areas. You can then save your entries into a 'pantry'. This allows you to make healthy choices by choosing foods that contain mostly or all green lights.
The application was developed by the Obesity Policy Coalition that includes Diabetes Australia Victoria, the Cancer Council Victoria and the Victorian Health Promotion Foundation (VicHealth).
