Beyondblue has launched a national campaign to tackle pre-natal and post-natal depression in Australia, called Just Speak Up. It is aimed at pregnant women, new mothers, their partners and families.
The campaign features television, radio and print ads in which real people (not actors) talk openly about their experiences of pre-natal and post-natal depression and anxiety, and how they got help. It encourages mums, dads and other family members to 'just speak up' and get the help they need. It follows four years of research and gathering of evidence on the risk factors associated with these types of depression and anxiety and the impact of not seeking help. Approximately 40,000 pregnant women and 12,000 post-natal women participated in the research.
As part of the campaign there is also a website where you can upload your own personal story or view the personal stories of other families. You can also get information about pre-natal and post-natal depression and anxiety. Go to the Just Speak Up website from the link below.
