The Department of Education and Early Childhood Development have developed a website for all professionals working within family day care, outside school hours care, preschool, long day care, occasional care, peak bodies, early child intervention services, local government maternal and child health, school focussed youth services and nursing, both primary and secondary.
The Families as Partners in Learning website has been developed to provide information on the importance of family partnerships, the research, evidence and benefits of family partnerships and the challenges that early childhood services and schools may face in developing successful family partnerships. The website also provides strategies, case studies and tools for early childhood services and schools to use when building and strangthening partnerships with families.
The main reasons for developing the website are:
- Families are the first and most significant influcence on their child's learning, development, health and wellbeing.
- Families, early childhood services and schools working in partnership build high expectations for all children and young people to ensure they achieve their full potential.
- To support early childhood professionals and school staff to work closely with families.
The website is a central portal that brings together both new and existing resources regarding family engagement and participation. New information and resources will continue to be added to the website over time. You can access the website from the link below.
