In-Home Family Mentoring
Program
This program supports new mums and parents with children under the
age of six living in Nillumbik, who are experiencing difficulties.
Funded by Nillumbik Best Start the program provides one-on-one
parenting support for two to three hours a week, for up to twelve
months, to assist parents to become more confident in their
parenting role, connect with other parents and into their local
community networks. To volunteer with the program you need to be a
parent or grandparent yourself, or have experience with parenting,
attend the four day volunteer training, and have a Working with
Children Check (this is provided free of charge).
Post Natal Depression Group
Volunteer
The post natal depression group is a support group for mothers who
are feeling depressed, overwhelmed and alone. The volunteer works
with the group facilitator to support the mothers and supervise
activities for the children. Must have a Working with Children
Check and police check and attend an orientation to volunteering
with Council.
Pram Walking Volunteer
Leader
We operate three pram walking groups: Hurstbridge (Tuesdays),
Diamond Creek (Thursdays) and Eltham (Fridays). The Volunteer
Leader takes new registrations, registers attendees for the walk
and walks with the group on a weekly or fortnightly basis.
