Scienceworks presents science and technology in a fun and interactive way. Hands-on participation is encouraged and you can take part in live demonstrations, shows, guided tours and special activities. It is a great place to challenge curious minds and keep active bodies busy.
Scienceworks also incorporates the Melbourne Planetarium (digital simulations of outer space in awe-inspiring astronomical shows, taking you to the stars and beyond) and the Lightning Room (a 120-seat theatre offering 30 minute live shows that include lightning bolts and other high voltage displays).
Scienceworks is located at 2 Booker Street in Spotswood and is open from 10am-4.30pm daily, except Good Friday and Christmas Day. Ticket prices are: adults $8, concession and children free. Additional charges may apply for temporary exhibitions and the Melbourne Planetarium and Lightning Room shows each cost $5 adults, $4 concession and $3.50 children aged 3-16 years.
Explore-a-saurus
Exhibition
From June 2011 to April 2012, you can
discover a world of dinosaurs and explore the science of
palaeontology in the Explore-a-saurus exhibition. This fun,
hands-on exhibition demonstrates the ways in which palaeontologists
use fossil evidence to learn about how dinosaurs lived; from what
they ate and how fast they ran, to what colour they may have been
and even how they cared for their young. Discover the forensic
method scientists use to learn about prehistoric life in a setting
with animatronic dinosaurs!
