The Old Melbourne Gaol is located in Russel Street, Melbourne (between La Trobe and Victoria Streets). Experience what life was like behind bars for some of our most notorious villains; learn about their life, their crimes, their trials and treatment. At the City Watch House, an interactive experience, you will be ‘arrested’ and encounter what it was like to be locked up. You can then continue through the watch house with sound and multi media imagery that is educational and informative. At the Old Magistrates Court you can stand in the dock, sit in the Judge’s chair or join in the crowd in the public gallery.
The complex is open daily from 9.30am to 5pm, except Christmas Day and Good Friday. Ticket prices are $20 per adult, $11 per child or $49 for a family of two adults and up to four children.
