Seeds of Compassion Day

We can all make a positive difference to a fire impacted person, one person at a time by doing one act of kindness one day a month for one year.

This bushfire recovery initiative was suggested by one fire affected person. It's simple, easy and your help is needed. There are still people and families suffering and struggling from the effects of the devastating Black Saturday bushfires. Individuals, families, businesses, government and media can embrace the Seeds of Compassion (S.O.C) Day by reaching out to one fire affected person.

Create a personal prompt in your calendar or diary, email, text message, computer, notebook or whatever will work for you to remind you to do something for someone you know who has been affected by the bushfires. This could be people who have lost their homes, their loved ones, their things or those who experienced or witnessed the fires or are working with and helping those who were affected.

What you do for that person is entirely up to you. It's about what feels right and can be as simple as a phone call, text message, email, post card or letter. It could be a cup of coffee or tea, a movie or outing, a soup or dinner you have cooked for them or sharing a meal together. It could be having fun together, a laugh, a joke, talking, listening, passing a tissue, giving a hug and acknowledging their journey. Or it could be getting active together through walking, bike riding, sport, fishing, etc. The possibilities are endless.
