Nillumbik Family & Children's Services is a unit within the
Nillumbik Shire Council. We create and run programs for children
and families in Nillumbik. We work with children and family service
providers, community members, health agencies and government
departments.
In our role in providing services for children and their families
we make a substantial financial contribution to the maternal and
child health service; provide and maintain facilities for
preschools, child care cooperatives, occasional child care,
playgroups and toy libraries; operate a family day care program;
maintain and resource this website specifically for families and
children in Nillumbik; provide a range of family support programs;
and oversee Nillumbik Best Start in conjunction with the Best Start
Partnership.
We also plan and advocate for children and families in Nillumbik.
The Nillumbik Municipal Early Years Plan
(2009-2013) provides a structure for us to work together
with the community and service providers to identify and meet
the needs of children from birth to eight and their
families.
